I think that the current photo on top is a shot of the opposite side of the casino than the side viewed in the shot of the distinguished gentleman in the lower photo. If I'm correct, that's the former steam plant for the businesses on the boardwalk at the left of the photo.
ReplyDeleteOne of the history books I've read about Asbury Park mentioned that there was a restaurant on top of the building that, when the beach was segregated, was called the "negro concessions." The stretch of beach to the east of the building (directly in front of the man in the photo) was marked on maps of the time as "negro beach."
