Lovely pic, Emil. This must have been taken before my time because I don't recognize the building and parking lot across from the Merry-go-round pavilion. I think that was a park by the time I was old enough to remember. I went to Star of the Sea(both girls and mixed) right up the street from 1967-1973.
ReplyDeleteAh, Max's - how I miss that place! And Pistol Pete's, too!!
ReplyDeleteSpecial trips to Max's with my dad for hot dogs, just the two of us...Went through the Haunted House ONE time.....scared me so badly I could never go back!! Some of the "actors" cornered my best friend Marianne and would NOT let her go!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone remember the Pier Pub and Nums? All gone... I watched the driftwood for weeks afterward and wondered which stools I sat on at Big Als and the above... And the Haunted Mansion was by far the scariest of all the haunted houses on any boardwalk... I actually left with my little sister telling others as I banged on the door in to get out that she was afraid - but it was me!
ReplyDeleteMax's is now located on Ocean Blvd... a great place to go for a dog and a beer
